Dawn Hershman, M.D., M.S. is the leader of the breast cancer program of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at Columbia University and professor of medicine and epidemiology at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Hershman received her M.D. from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and her fellowship in internal medicine and oncology at Columbia University Medical Center, where she served as chief resident. She also completed a masters of science in biostatistics with an emphasis on patient-oriented research at the Mailman School of Public Health. 

Dr. Hershman has expertise in health outcomes research with a specific interest in supportive care, disparities in quality of care, and breast cancer survivorship. She has published over 250 scientific articles, having received funding through the American Cancer Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Department of Defense, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, PCORI, and the National Cancer Institute. She has received several awards, including the Advanced Clinical Research Award in Breast Cancer from ASOCI and the Advanced Medical Achievement Award from the Avon Foundation.

Dr. Hershman currently serves in leadership roles within SWOG and ASCO, is on the editorial board at the Journal of Clinical Oncology, and is an associate editor at the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
